CPE Degree is an academic programme requiring commitment and willingness to undertake independent research and study. It begins with a period of directed reading during July and August. CPE Degree is followed by a three-week ceremony course in early September. The main education period of time covers the two semesters of the normal academic year. Some providers use the title Common Professional Examination (CPE) and others Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL). Although they have different titles, in essence there is no difference between the courses in core content and professional accreditation.
CPE Degree is the difference is that CPE was the historical title used by professional bodies to denote professional change courses and GDL has afterward been used by some providers to describe the qualification.
