Introduction
Armed Forces Medical College is a first medical institute of the country recognized as a centre of quality for education and experiment. The college supplies training to under-graduate and post-graduate medical and nursing students with ensured career aspects in the defense services.
AFMC is supervised by Indian armed forces. It was founded in 1948 at Pune as a postgraduate training and research centre. MBBS was begun in 1962. Students doing their MBBS from AFMC are responsible to serve at least 7 years in the armed forces. AFMC is attached to Maharashtra University of Health Science. After doing MBBS from AFMC candidates guaranteed of service in the armed forces medical department.

Approximately there are 10,000 textbook and acknowledgment scripts, prominent number of Indian and Foreign journals. The Library has fields distributed for the students and faculty members individually and departments for periodicals, Audio-Visual projection, photocopiers and browsing centre.
Faculty
The faculty members also undertake problem solving studies in different aspects of research. They also conduct research and project based studies.
Application procedure
Application forms will be available in the indicated post offices across the country. The application form can also be received by mailing a request for the form to AFMC along with a DD.
Eligibility criteria:
A student should have achieved at age of 17 years before 31st Dec.2010 and should not be 22 years on 31st Dec. 2010. Besides a student must not be married and can’t marry even the course would have not completed. Also a student should be medically fit reported to the fixed criteria.
Method of selection:
A Student has to first give a written examination. The curriculum of the written examination will be same as 11th and 12th curriculum. Those who accomplish the written exam will be called for interviews and medical test at a later stage.
