Andhra University was established in 1926. Andhra University College of Engineering (Autonomous), Visakhapatnam, is the campus college of University. The university has many engineering colleges. The Department of Chemical Technology, instituted in 1933, was also changed to the same campus in 1962, adding strength to the Engineering Departments. The AU College of Engineering (Autonomous) has developed large repute in the country and has various Centers of Excellence.
