The institute functions under seven faculties, namely, Home Science, Science, Humanities, Education, Business Administration, Engineering and Community Education and Entrepreneurship Development, each faculty functioning under its respective Dean. Dr.T.S.Avinashilingam, a great educationist, a freedom fighter, an associate of Mahatma Gandhi, an ardent follower of Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekanandas teachings. Avinashilingam University for Women was originally a part of University of Madras and in June 1987 this institution got its separate individuality.
Vision:- Self exploitation and authorization of women through modern, scientific and
value based education to enable them to lead a purposeful life filled with moral and
spiritual values. Six hostels with modern creature comforts and conveniences with catering facility are present.

Eligibility:- Candidate passed in 12th Standard or CBSE or any other State Board of School
Examinations and a minimum of 55 % for OC, 50 % or BC, MBC and others.
Avinashilingam University 2011 Application Procedure:- Application for entry to the first year of the Bachelors Degree
Courses should be sent within ten days of publication of the results of the Tamil Nadu
Higher Secondary Examinations to the Registrar. Avinashilingam Engineering Entrance 2011 Application Forms and Prospectus will be available at the University Office, on payment of Prescribe amount by cash (for SC/ST students Prescribe amount by cash).

3. Xerox copies of the following-
(i)Community certificate, (ii) Transfer certificate and conduct certificate from the institution last studied, (iii) 10 th mark sheet
