Bharat Dynamics Limited was established in the year 1970 to be a constructing base for guided weapon systems. It’s coming into being reflects the visionary wisdom of the Nation to achieve self-reliance in the technical land. Bharat Dynamics is the prime product agency for missile weaponry systems under the Integrated Guided Missile Programme, including the Prithvi, Trishul, Akash and Nag missiles. BDL also constructs other missiles and systems for the Indian Armed Forces. These admit the Javelinanti-tank missiles.
The company utilizing the spare capacity available has broadened into small arms production to meet the demand of para-military forces of the country. BDL, which had earlier radiated its activities in a number of Naval projects, now proposes to take up manufacture of 7.62 mm self-loading rifles (SLRs) and 9 mm pistols. Bharat Dynamics Limited, a high-technology strong-growing Mini Ratna PSU under the Ministry of Defence having three product units at Kanchanbagh, Hyderabad, Bhanur, Medak District, A.P. and Visakhapatnam.The endeavor of the Company will always aim at fulfilling it’s responsibilities to the Indian Armed Forces and living up to the cognomen ‘THE FORCE BEHIND PEACE’.
