The School of Distance Education (SDE) of Bharathiar University was launched on the academic year 1991-92. The school has fixed its operation for the obvious reason of strengthening its base to furnish caliber teaching. Having accomplished the aim, the school has begun extending its action by naming and sanctioning study centres across the nation to help reach higher gross enrolment ratio and higher literacy rate.
