Department of Biotechnology at Himachal Pradesh University, Summer Hill, Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) was founded in the year 1995 with major sponsorship from state Government and Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India.
Present study results from the report, ‘adjustment of sterculia gum with methacrylic acid to develop a novel drug delivery system,’ have been published. According to recent inquiry from Shimla, India, “The present paper deals with the change of the sterculia gum with methacrylic acid (MAAc) to hydrogels for use in drug delivery. The department encourages an open and active corporate culture that respects individuality, ability and teamwork.
The Indian biotechnology industry is well spread across the distance and breadth of the country. Several states such as Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan among others have adopted biotech policies and established biotech parks to promote the industry. With an imagination to turn Himachal Pradesh into a bio-business valley, the department of biotechnology has proposed to set up biotechnology and nanobiosym technology (NBS) parks. The section of Biotechnology has currently staff strength of six. The faculty is competently assisted by the research staff (7) and supporting staff (Superintendent [Office], Superintendent [Store] and a Steno typist). The Faculty admits Professor (1), Reader (1), Lecturers (3) and an Instrumentation Engineer. One of the faculty members was awarded a DAAD fellowship for year 2001-2002. Additionally, to strive and deliver an outstanding return on investment for our stockholders and the management team.
