The founding of a separate Department of Biotechnology in 2006 gave a new impetus to the development of the field of conventional as well as modern biotechnology in West Bengal. In just a couple of years of its existence, the Department has encouraged and quickened the pace of growth of biotechnology in the State. As Biotechnology is a field with lot of promises, students are getting pulled to this stream of science. And with India emerging as one of the biggest leaders in biotechnology, the employment chances are also tremendous.
In this era of technological revolution, India is asserting her place in the global arena of biotechnology. West Bengal is one of the most outstanding participants in this journey of glory toward progress. The department offers the platform and infrastructure supporting Biotech Education which are carefully engineered and implemented to provide the best quality at the highest levels of courseware and learning systems for the student fulfilling global standard. The training centre aims to serve the needs of both biotech employees and students.
The Department has been interacting with several leading research institutes of repute. The proven engineering at the laboratory level are being scaled up and demonstrated in field.
