Central Avian Research Institute (CARI) is located about 250 km from New Delhi, the capital of India. In order to offer all-round endorse to the advancement of poultry production, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) founded the Central Avian Research Institute at Izatnagar on 2/111979. Lodging and boarding service is availability at the Institute in the form Trainee’s Hostel cum Guest House. CARI Regional Centre located at Choudwar in Bhubaneswar.

A. Completed Research Projects
NATP on management of costal agro-eco system affected through super Cyclone in Orissa (2002-2005)
Study to grow viable technologies and to encourage backyard poultry in rural fields (2002- 2007)
Utilization Of cassava (Manihot esculent crantz) as energy source in poultry feed (2003-2007).
B. Ongoing Research Projects
1. Nutrient demands of ducks. (2008 -13), PI- S.K.sahoo
Activity and achievement: Studies on demand of energy and protein stage in various production stage in duck breeds. Various trials have been made and sample analysis is in advancement.
2. Investigation into the Reproductive Physiology and Semen Characteristics of Ducks to Augment Fertility and Hatchability. (2009 12), PI- S.C.Giri
Activity and achievement: Some preliminary functions have been done on reproductive tract measurement and semen collection.
3. Sustainable livelihood improvement through integrated freshwater aquaculture, horticulture and livestock growth in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sambalpur districts of Orissa state. (NAIP- component 3) (2009-12). PI-S.C.Giri.
Activity and achievement: Some cluster already built and other work in advancement in 3 districts.
Sale of chicken, duckling, eggs of duck and chicken: Central Avian Research Institute Bhubaneswar usually selling chicken, duckling, eggs of duck and hen at specified rate.
