The newly formed national research lab, the Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research (CIMFR) Dhanbad, is a element laboratory of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) was proposed to supply R&D inputs for the entire coal-energy chain from mining to feeding through integrating of the Core proficiencies of the two (CFRI & CMRI) prime Coal institution of the country. The fresh formed entity CIMFR Dhanbad, a constituent laboratory of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) would be the premier system of the country providing basic research, R & D back up, informatory services and help in technology up-gradation & adaptation to coal and mineral based industries to reach the targeted production with high standards of safety, economy and cleaner environment. As such CIMFR, Dhanbad would have to have its own vision for discharging its national role effectively to help coal, mineral and other linked industries to get their vision understood into reality. CIMFR 2011 recruitment will be open in mid of year.
Mission
1. To design, perform and deliver reliable, high quality and internationally competitive research
and growth on coal and minerals for utilization in mining, energy and allied industries in India
and beyond.
2. To help the mining industry in general and coal industry in particular with needed knowhow and
R&D services covering the entire chain from “Mine to Market”.
3. To accord high priority to clean coal initiatives with focus on resource conservation, coal quality
Up-gradation and coal processing technology packages for power, steel, chemical feedstock
and liquid fuels.
4. To generate and help generate high performance human resource (Scientists, Engineers,
Technicians) needed in the country.
5. To offer high quality science and technology advice to government at the centre and in the
States to facilitate management of technological changes in the areas of mining and fuels.
