The Central Government Health Scheme Hospital was began in the year of 1954 with the aim of offering comprehensive medical care to the Central Govt. employees, both serving and pensioners and their dependant family members. The scheme is also offering service to members and erstwhile member of parliament, judges of Supreme Court and High Court, freedom fighters, erstwhile Governors and former Vice-Presidents of the country.
Central Government Health Scheme was started in Mumbai in the year of 1963 with 7 dispensaries. Over the years the scheme has expanded substantially and currently there are two Polyclinics, twenty-six Dispensaries, four Homoeopathic units and two Ayurvedic Dispensaries.
The beneficiary, when necessitates consultation with a specialist will be referred to CGHS Polyclinics and other expert visit centers when availableness for a special specialty for Eg. Medical expert, Child expert, gynecologist, Dermatologist etc. If, for some particular expert, consultant is not availableness in Central Govt. Health Scheme, the beneficiary will be referred to the concerned out patient Govt. department and Municipal General Hospital.
Govt. employees drawing a Basic pay of more Rs. 12,000/- p.m. can have direct consultation with Central Government Health Scheme experts and also consultants in Govt. /Municipal Hospital but not in private accredited hospitals.

i want to know wheather sankara eye hospital , bangalore is approved / tie up with cghs .

am staying in orissa,my father is a retired central govt employee.i want to avail his health facility under cghs health card. thus i want to know where to go for this purpose,whome to contact,in orissa.is there any facility in cuttack/bhubaneswar.
