Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP) , a constituent national laboratory of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), calls for applications from young and meritorious Indian nationals who are creative, have a passion and want to pursue R & D related to Science and Technology for recruitment as Research Interns (RI). The internship is meant to be preparative phase for the young interns for imbibing the spirit of enquiry and learning the tools and techniques related to R & D through participation.
Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP) is a multi disciplinary multi location R & D institute dedicated to the cause of medicinal and aromatic plant research, cultivation and business. CIMAP has its footprints in different agro climatic zones of India in form of it’s Resource Centers (CRC) and Resource Points (CRP).
Research & Development Areas
1. Conservation & utilization of genetic resources of medicinal & aromatic pants.
2. Bioprospection & development of technologies for therapeutic, nutraceutical, agrichemical & health care product.
3. Transforming R& D leads into technologies and products.
4. Bio-village approach for mission programme on technology dissemination in geranium, patchouli, Artemisia annua, rose, mints, rosemary and Cymbopogon grasses.
5. Development of improved varieties and agro technologies for priority plants.
6. Plants genomics and biotechnological improvement in Catharanathus, Withania and Mentha species.
7. Plant tissue culture technology for developing high throughput regeneration and secondary metabolite production.
8. Integrated nutrient and pest management strategies leading to near organic farming.
9. Basic research in selected medicinal and aromatic plants for future exploitation.

Eligibility for CIMAP 2011 Recruitment:
First class M.Sc. in any of the following subject areas: Botany, Agronomy, Genetics and Plant Breeding, Biotechnology, Agri-economics, Microbiology, Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry. The internship is meant to be preparatory phase for the young interns for imbibing the spirit of enquiry and learning the tools and techniques related to R & D through involution.
Seats
19 (Nineteen). May vary subject to availability of meritorious candidates.
Time period
Maximum two years from the date of joining and not extendable under any considerations. Performance of the interns will be reviewed every six months.
Selection
Selection will be through initial screening based on overall academic records and experience and interview of short listed candidates. If required a written test may be undertaken to shortlist candidates for interview.
