CIRB 2011 Recruitment Central Institute for Research on Buffaloes
The Central Institute for Research on Buffaloes (Main Campus) is settled at Hisar in Haryana state on the National Highway No.10, approximately 170 Km north-west of the national capital – New Delhi. It is nearly 3 km from the Hisar Bus Stand on the Sirsa Road and about 5 km from the Hisar Railway Station. (Nearest airport is the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi for international flights and Palam Airport, New Delhi for domestic connections.)
History
Transfer of erstwhile Progeny Testing Bull Farm, Hisar from the State Government, Haryana to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research in the year 1985, paved the way for the founding of the Central Institute for Research on Buffaloes (CIRB) at Hisar. Available infrastructure, land, possession and buffalo herd of the Progeny Testing Bull Farm were transferred to the CIRB and the Institute began functioning from 1st February 1985 at Hisar.
Organization
Director is the principal executive director head of the institute and is chairman of the Institute Management Committee as well as the staff research council (SRC). Research Advisory Committee (RAC) suggests research programmers based on national and global context for guiding research in the drive areas, besides reviewing the research achievements of the institute and its consistency in accordance with the mandate of the institute.
Mandate
1. To promote and undertake research on all aspects of buffalo production.
2. To establish nucleus breeding herds of important buffalo breeds in their native tracts.
3. To act as a repository of information on all aspects of buffalo production and development.
4. To undertake extension activities for technology transfer.
5. To coordinate research work carried out by other institutions in the country and to collaborate
with international agencies in the area of buffalo research and development.
Network Centers
Centers of the Network Project on Buffalo improvement are spread throughout the length and breadth of the country, carefully conserving distinct breeds in and around their respective home-tracts. These centres have been established during the Ninth and Tenth Five-year plans in collaboration with different universities and ICAR institutes. The research and developmental programme of these centres are coordinated by the institute.

Training
The Institute supplies necessary training / guidance to scientists / veterinarians / staff / farmers making trainings organized by other organizations like Remount Vety. Corps., Agril. Universities, Sainik Rehabilitation programs etc. Post Graduate students of different state Universities accomplish their research projects under the guidance of Institute scientists.
Collaborations
The Institute has based cooperation with various national and international institutions. Department of Bio-Technology Government of India affirmed research project on Embryo Transfer Technology. Central Soil Salinity Research Institute, Karnal studied reclamation of salinity affected land through subsurface drainage system and cultivation of saline resistant fodder crops.
