CNLU is located in the ancient city of Patna, capital of Bihar, India. CNLU was set up under the Chanakya National Law University Act, 2006 (Bihar Act No. 24 of 2006) and accepted in section 2(f) of the U.G.C. Act, 1956. Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) has launched three certificate courses in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) from the current academic session. The University objectives at adding quality legal education and encouraging legal consciousness in the community at large in order to realise some of the goals envisaged in our Constitution. Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna, will be admitting all the 80 students to its five-year integrated law course through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT)-2011 to be carried by National Law Institute University, Bhopal on May 9 next year.
Eligibility for Admissions to CNLU:
1. Candidates have to secure 45% marks in total in your HSSC (Higher Secondary School Examination) or any equivalent exam.
2. A candidate have appeared in this qualifying exam this year, you can also take the test.
3. Candidate should not have completed 21 years as on 01. 07.2011.
4. However, there is relaxation in the age limit for specially-abled and candidates of reserved category.
Admission procedure:-
Candidate, who wishes to take CNLU admission in B.A., LL.B (Hons.) under NRI, NRI Sponsored & Foreign Nationals category, is suggested to download application form from website cnlu.ac.in/llb.php and sent to the Registrar, Chanakya National Law University, Patna on or before Wednesday 2nd June 2011. Application form can also be received from university office among 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in all working days.
Course Structure:-
CNLU seeks to inculcate in them a relevant and practical understanding and application of law.
Exam Centers:
CLAT will be held in 20 centers across India, including Bangalore, Kochi, Chennai and Hyderabad.
Total Seats:
80 (60 seats on merit through Entrance Test, 20 seats direct admission for foreign nationals on merit. Vacant seats, if any, under this category will be taken to general pool).

30% of the total seats shall be filled by endorse women candidates admitting those selected in reserved categories.
