Coal India Limited (CIL) is a public sector attempting of the Indian Government. It is the world’s biggest coal miner. It is owned wholly by the Union Government, under the administrative control of the Ministry of Coal. It is involved in coal mining and production industry. Every year CIL Coal India invites the application form for recruitment. Coal India 2011 recruitment application forms are invited. Coal India company is contained under the Companies Act, To encourage research and development actions on a continuing basis in the fields of coal mining, beneficial development of new coal based productions or by-products, fuel technology or any other area having a bearing on conservation, development for utilization of the coal reserves of the country. Coal India Ltd. (CIL) has embarked upon a huge acquisition project which involves a large list of mining equipment to be purchased on the international market over the next five years. Current plans involve the buy, between now and 1999, of over 1,300 items of surface mining equipment and well over 100 underground mining machines. Coal India Limited (CIL) will launch a “specific” scholarship scheme in 2011-11 for 100 meritorious students from the below poverty line. These students will also get offer of working as managemet trainee in the company after completion of the studies. Coal India is also planning to offer another 25 scholarships to students whose lands were acquired by the company and who are left with no other option to earn regularly. CIL and its subsidiaries are incorporated under the Companies Act, 1956 and are wholly owned by the Central Government. The coal mines in Assam and its neighboring areas are controlled directly by CIL under the unit North Eastern Coalfields.

History

The Indian energy sector is largely dependent on coal as the prime source of energy. After the Indian independence, a greater need for coal production was felt in the First Five Year Plan. In 1951 a Working Party for the coal industry was set up, which suggested the amalgamation of small and fragmented producing units. Thus the idea of a nationalized, unified coal sector was born. Government of India deregulating the prices of Non-Coking Coal of grades A, B & C, Coking coal and Semi/Weakly coking coal on 22.03.1996. Subsequently, on 12.03.1997, Government of India deregulated the prices of non-coking coal of grade D, Hard Coke and Soft Coke and also allowed Coal India Ltd. to fix coal prices for grades E, F & G till Jan’2000 once in every six months by updating cost indices as per escalation formula comprised in the 1987 report of the Bureau of Industrial Cost & Prices CIL was free to fix the prices of all grades of coal in relation to the market prices. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, Coal India Limited and its subsidiary companies regularly undertake various community development activities in and around the coalfield areas for the benefit of the local people.     Please do not get taken in by all the showcasing that is being done and all that is being said about Coal India Limited. This is perhaps the most corrupt PSU in the entire country. Everything the management does is to further the interest of its top executives. The present hype being built prior to the issue of shares is based on lies and fictitious reports. Their is no coal, there is no quality control. The entire coal india management and the ministry of coal is running on falsehood and corruption, whatever anyone may say. The salaries are good but join only if you guys want to be in the rat race to make money.
