Distance Learning HNC Building Services
A two year day release HNC course guiding to a national qualification, accredited through employers and professional bodies within the building services sector.The HNC Building Services course trains the learner for a range of technical, professional and management careers in Building Services Engineering.
The learner will become knowledgeable with techniques affiliating to the design, installation, maintenance and management of HVAC systems within buildings and understand the characters and duties such a profession places on the consumption and management of both existing and future energy sources.
Content
Design Principles and Application, Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning, Thermo fluids, Acoustics, Health and Safety in the Building Services Industry, Building Services Project Management, Analytical Methods, Building Services Engineering Science, Piped Distribution Services, Energy Utilisation and Efficiency, HVAC Control Strategies, Maintenance and Quality Assurance in Building Services, Final Year Project.
Entry Requirements: At least one of the following;
An HNC or NC in an allied subject, e.g. NC in Building Services,
An SVQ or equal affiliated to Building Services subjects with a good standard of academic qualifications,
Those with other qualifications and stages of experience within the Building Services Engineering sector,
Must be applied,
Note
All appliers will be discipline to a pre-entry interview.
Qualifications & Progression
Upon successful completion the learner receives the Higher National Certificate in Building Services Engineering and the chance to articulate to year 2 of an appropriate degree course. The eligibility entitles the learner to employ for membership of professional bodies, such as CIBSE, who are certified with The Engineering Council, for the planned title of “Engineering Technician” (Eng.Tech.).
