Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University is a prime Medical University of India named after the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, late Dr.M.G.Ramachandran. The University has the distinction of being the second biggest Health Sciences University of the nation. It is the only medical university in the state of Tamil Nadu that is capable of granting association to new medical and paramedical colleges (government or self -financing) and awarding degrees.
