Introduction
Gauhati University is the Beginning University founded in North East India. The University was launched beneath the Gauhati University Act 1947 (Assam Act, XVI of 1947) in the year 1948. It is attached to the affiliation of Indian Universities, which is association of Commonwealth Universities. It is the most former and biggest University of the North Eastern Region. At present it has 194 attached colleges providing under-graduate and post-graduate courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, Engineering and Medicine.

Eligibility
A Bachelor’s Degree of 10+2+3 design with 50% marks total or in Honors/Major subject (if any) from the Gauhati University or any other accepted University (not by Distance mode). Those who have performed in the last year of the Bachelor’s Degree or any its equal examination may also apply
Selection Procedure
The Gauhati University carries an individual entrance test at the national level to choose students on the base of merit. The admission process is a three-tier scheme consisting of a written examination, a GD and a PI. To assure a low student teacher ratio and serves individualized learning by close interaction amongst student, faculty members and alumni, the force of all batch is restricted to 33 students.
