Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics was launched in 1930. In 1949, GIPE got a constituent recognized institution of the University of Poona. It became the status of a deemed university in 1993.It launched in 1930, the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE) in Pune is one of the most previous institutions in the field of Economics education and research in India. Mainly believed as a research center, it has developed the status of a esteemed institution in Economics. In 1962, apprising its role to research in agricultural economics, the University Grants Commission (UGC) selected the Institute as a Centre of Advanced Study in Agricultural Economics.
