BJ Medical College Ahmedabad is among the reputed colleges in the state of Gujarat. It started imparting education in 1871, under the name of Ahmedabad Medical School. The college holds the distinction of being one of the oldest medical colleges of India. It was renamed in 1879 as BJ Medical College. Currently, BJ Medical College is affiliated to Gujarat University and is approved by Medical Council of India (MCI), to conduct several courses in medicine at under-graduate and post-graduate level (MD, MS, PG Diploma, super specialty course DM & M.Ch). The alumni of the college consist of some of the best doctors of the nation.
