HPU Shimla
The Himachal Pradesh University, a prime institution of teaching and research in the country, was launched on 22 July 1970 by an Act of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. The campus is spread out over an area of about 200 acres.
Half of the 220,000 students recruited in the university and its more than 80 consorted colleges are women. The University is located almost 5 km away from the town, at Summer Hill, a quiet suburb of Shimla in the locality of the Indian Institute of promoted Study. It is totally financed by the Government of Himachal Pradesh and the University allows Commission, New Delhi.
