Introduction
The Marine Engineering and Research Institute (MERI), officially known as the Directorate of Marine Engineering Training (DMET), is India’s national institute for the training of Marine Engineers. It is India’s most former and experienced marine engineering educational institution.
MERI provides a 4-year Bachelor’s Degree program in Marine Engineering admissions for which are made by the highly esteemed Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE) guided by IITs Marine Engineering Training in India had its stately origin in 1927 on board the Training Ship Dufferin. 8 years prior, the first Indian owned vessel, S.S. “Loyalty” sailed out of Bombay Harbour on April 5, 1919 for London.
Courses
B.Sc. (Nautical Sciences) Degree – 3 years duration
Marine Engineering Degree 3 years
Marine Engineering & Research Degree – 4 years
Polyvalent B.Sc. (Maritime Sciences) Degree, 3 years
Seats:
There are 39 seats available in MERI, Mumbai. Out of these 10 seats are reserved for foreign students. 15% seats are reserved for SC students, 7-1/2% seats for ST students & 18% seats are reserved for OBC students belonging to non-creamy layer.
Academic Qualification
Students must have passed (10 + 2) examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English.
AGE Limits:
The students must have been born on or after 1.10.1985. For SC/ST, students must have been born on or after 01.10.1980.
Application procedure
Application form along with information booklet giving the details of the Training Programme at the above three Institutes, Medical standards etc. can be received from the branches of Syndicate Bank all over India by payment of Rs. 300/- for General / OBC category and Rs. 200/- for SC/ST category.
Selection procedure
Admission in B.Sc. in Maritime Sciences for the upcoming session in August will be attained by the Joint Entrance Examination, to be directed by NTs. There will be no separate Entrance test for admission to the above training institutes and only those candidates who have passed in IIT-JEE test will be called for counseling in the month of July/August.
Counselling
The counselling and eye test will be managed in the month of July/August on the ground of the merit of the student in IIT-JEE test. The courses will begin in mid August; student should be mentally & physically healthy for sea life.

whether the institute is approved by your office ?kindly inform the genioness . If it is fraud kindly inform the concerned police authorities to take action. One Mr. Subashchandra Jat is collecting money from boys for appointing Deck Cadet ,Engine Cadet etc. by giving add in kannada daily news paper.

we r the students of +2 non med (p.a.u.). sir we have some problem related our school timing which is changed by you.
sir it is very difficute for us to attend the school at afternoon time. because in the morning we have fresh mind but at afternoon time we have not fresh mind as like morning.
some of the students between us join institute for the preparetion of IIT & AITEEE etc. the timing of these institute is same as the new school timing. so we all suffer with this timing.
we all request you please change our timing. we shall be very thankfull to you.

I am a be b-tech electrical engineer passing in the year 2010.i want to apply for reeto coarse/meeo coarse.i have a eyesight of 6/9 without glasses.can it be possible to apply for those coarses with such eyesight.
