Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (commonly famous as IIT Guwahati or IITG) is an independent engineering and technology-oriented institute of higher teaching founded by the Government of India, placed in Guwahati, in the state of Assam in India. It is the sixth member of the IIT fraternity.IITG is officially accepted as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India. The institute systematically ranks amongst the top engineering colleges in the academic ranking of Indian colleges by several engineering teaching surveys like India Today, Dataquest etc.

ALCHERINGA 2010 is being held from 5th to 7th February and several colleges from around the nation will be heading to Guwahati to be a part of this fest. Heading the list of the most awaited events are the proshows which admit a achievement by the music ‘gurus’, the renowned trio of Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy who have the nation grooving to their beats. Other well famous celebrities like famous comedian Vir Das and Tushar Raheja, author of the best seller ‘anything for you ma’am’ will also be introduce for the fest.
Also, there are competitions such as Electric Heels, the dance and choreography competition where groovy steps, funky beats and rocking actions will set the stage ablaze. For all the lovers of rock, there is Rock o Phonix, the largest showdown between rock
Bands from all throughout India which will have the people in crazy for surely. The fashion enthusiasts can have their share of fun in Hot Couture, the fashion show where participants will be strutting the stage in their own creations. The Tansens of today will test their vocal chords in Unplugged, the competition for the singers.
