IITs have been affecting the nation as temples of more eminent learning and experiment in engineering, technology, science, medical science and technology, management and law for over half a century. One of the fields in which the IITs have been contributory significantly for national development is the caliber advance of Technical Teachers and Continuing teaching of working professionals, which is assuming tremendous importance in shaping the human resource of our nation. In the face of speedy technological advancement that is taking place across the globe, it is important for engineers and scientists to continue to learn new technologies update and upgrade their knowledge, much after completing formal teaching in the college.
Quality Improvement Programmes (QIP)
Normally referred to as Q.I.P, the programme is financed by A.I.C.T.E. and furnishes chances for teachers supported by AICTE sanctioned Engineering Colleges to better their qualification by acquiring M.Tech and PhD Degrees from some of the reputed institutions in the nation. Admitted individuals are paid scholarship, in addition to the salary from the sponsoring colleges. Since its origination in 1978 a big number of faculty members from engineering institutions all over the nation have benefited from this scheme. Short Term Courses
Several QIP short term courses of 1 week to 4 weeks are provided in each year for the teachers of AICTE sanctioned Engineering Colleges funded by AICTE. Concerned persons from Industry, R & D institutions and students are also welcome to participate on payment of a specified fee.
