Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) is an institute and university in Kolkata’s northern outskirt of Baranagar, India launched by Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis in 1931. Its actions are research, teaching, and practice of statistics to the natural sciences and social sciences. The Headquarters of ISI is situated in the northern fringe of the city of Kolkata. It is one of the most previous institutions centered on Statistics, and its early reputation led it to being followed as a model for the first US institute of statistics establish at the Research Triangle, North Carolina by Gertrude Mary Cox.
