Introduction
IMS-BHU is one of the only third institutes of Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi; the IMS is the medical school of the University. IMS-BHU is one of India’s highest-ranked medical colleges, and like the balance of B.H.U., it is a residential, co-educational institute. It includes undergraduate (M.B.B.S.) students by the highly selective BHU-PMT Entrance Examination held by B.H.U. at unlike cities of India.

Eligibility
For undergraduate
MBBS – Student must have passed Higher Secondary / Intermediate / Pre Medical / its equal examination from an accepted board with a lower limit of 50% marks (40% in case of SC/ST students) in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together.
BAMS – Student must have passed Higher Secondary / Intermediate / Pre Medical / its equal examination from an accepted Board with a lower limit of 50% marks (40% in case of SC/ST students) in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together.
For Post Graduate
M D / M S – Student must have MBBS Degree accepted by the Medical Council of India and finished one year internship training. Those students who have already done or doing M D / M S course are not eligible.
M D (Ayurveda) / M S (Ayurveda) – Student must have BAMS Degree accepted by CCIM and finished 6 months family Job (in the case of 5 years BAMS Course) or one year family Job (in the case of 4 ½ years BAMS Course). Also, students with MBBS course accepted by Medical Council of India and have completed one year internship training are also legal to under extra category.
DM / M Ch – Student must have M D / M S degree from a accepted University.
MDS – Students must have BDS Degree accepted by the Dental Council of India and completed one year Internship training.
Admission process
Undergraduate:
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS): Admission is done on the basis of student’s performance in the entrance examination.
Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine & Surgery (BAMS): Admission is done on the basis of merit obtained by the student in the entrance examination.
Diploma
M D / M S – Admission is done on the basis of the entrance test.
M D / M S (Ayurveda) – Admission is done on the basis of student’s performance in the entrance test.
D M / M Ch – Admission is done on the basis of student’s performance in all India competitive entrance examination conducted by the University.
MDS – Admission is done on the basis of student’s performance in the entrance exam.
