The history of Jamia Hamdard begins with the establishment of a small Unani clinic in the year 1906 by Hakeem Hafiz Abdul Majeed the main objective of Jamia Hamdard Hamdard in independent India. The institute is well known for there quality education and there reputed faculty member. Institute offered PhD doctorate course of one year. Late Janab Hakeem Abdul Hameed was introducing this institute. Hakeem Abdul Hameed set up the Institute of History of Medicine and Medical Research with the object of pushing activity and research in the history of medicine.

Eligibility
Candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. program in the Faculty should have passed M.Sc. in the relevant subject securing at least 55% marks in the aggregate.
PhD Admission process
Admission to Ph. D. program is made on the basis of written Entrance Test/Interview at the level of Faculty twice in a year.The Written Test/Interview for admission to Ph. D. will be conducted at Jamia Hamdard only.
