Introduction
Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research College was upgraded as a Regional Centre and named as Jawaharlal Institute of PG Medical Education and Research on 13th July 1964. The institute is also demanded in all centrally sponsored national health programs like Family planning, Leprosy Eradication, Malaria control, Prevention of Blindness, ICDS, Control of AIDS, Expanded program of immunization.
Director, Dean and Staff of Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research thank the various Philanthropists have established the various Medals and Prizes as a token of appreciation to students who strive to excel in various subjects and specialties. Regional Pharmacovigilance Centre, JIPMER, and Pondicherry monitors the ADR reported from South Indian states. Eight peripheral centres viz, Annamalai Nagar, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Kochi, Kolar, Manipal, Mysore and Ooty are attached to this centre.
Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research campus is located in the western entrance of Pondicherry on the highway and disseminate over 195 acres of sloping land that is a hillock, known in vernacular as Gorimedu’. The staff strength of the institute is about 3000. The institute guides a number of medical and paramedical courses. Admissions to the courses are made on all India basis and purely on the basis of merit by entrance examinations.
