The Jawaharlal Nehru University established beneath the Jawaharlal Nehru University Act 1966, (53 of 1966) came into universe in 1969. The University shall enterprise to encourage the principles for which Jawaharlal Nehru worked during his life-time, national integration, social justice, secularism, democratic way of life, international understanding and scientific way to the troubles of society.

M Phil /PhD, Pre-PhD /PhD, M Tech/PhD and M Phil /PhD, M A, M Sc, MCA and B A (Hons) in Foreign Languages. Admission by Entrance Exam.
PhD
Direct Admission to PhD programme in all Schools except School of Life Sciences either on the basis of viva-voce or written examination and viva-voce as many as decided by the university
M.Phil
M Phil / Pre-PhD / PhD in Science Schools except Molecular Medicine (Only JRF Holders) either on the base of viva-vice or written examination and viva-voce both as may be decided by the university.
