Introduction
The Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research was instituted in 1989 by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, to commemorate the centenary (1989) of Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru with the main objective of encouraging scientific research at the highest level in frontier and interdisciplinary areas of science and Engineering.

The Centre is registered as a Society under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act and is an Autonomous National Institution. As conceived of at the time of its founding, the Centre maintains close links with the Indian Institute of Science (IISC). Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for encouraged Scientific Research is a multidisciplinary research institute located in Jakkur, a locality north of Bangalore, India. It is comparatively young yet well-known around the Globe.

Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research has a faculty member ratio of about 1:4, and state-of-the art experimental, computational and substructure facilities. Apart from training its own students through a wide range of courses, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research also actively supports a range of educational outreach actions. The Centre is furnished by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and is a deemed university.
