Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) was constituted in 1971 by an Act of the State Legislature of Kerala. Jurisdiction of the university is in Wayanad, Thiruvananthapuram, Kasaragod, Malappuram and Ernakulam districts of Kerala. The University is a member of the affiliation of Indian Universities (AIU). It is widely regarded among the best agricultural universities in India. Kerala State Assembly constituted Kerala Agricultural University in the year 2001, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research adjudged the Kerala Agricultural University as the best doing University among the thirty five State Agricultural Universities and deemed Universities in the nation.
