This Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology Bangalore Karnataka was founded in the year of 26/06/1973 with bed strength of fifty. The Institute became independent in the year of 8/01/1980. The Indian Govt. has granted the position of a Regional Cancer Centre in the year 1/11/ 1980 to this Institute, thus became one of the eleven Regional Cancer Centres in the India. The Indian Council of Medical Research has accredited this referral Institution as a research organization.
Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology Bangalore Karnataka is accredited as a Charitable Institute through the Endowment Department of Karnataka, considering its promise for services to poor cancer patients. The anti-cancer drugs sold at Kidwai Cancer Drug Foundation’ are forty to sixty percent cheaper than the market rates.

The Institute provides whole modalities of cancer Treatment:
1. Cancer Surgery – curative, palliative and reconstructive using modern technology and apparatus.
2. Radiation therapy using Cobalt-60 Teletherapy machines, Linear accelerator, remote controlled after loading system, manual intracavitary and interstitial implantation procedure.
3. Systemic therapy with standard dose and high dose chemotherapy.
4. Blood transfusion and Immunohematology services with facilities for blood and blood component therapy.
5. Palliative care – Important symptom care with multidisciplinary team.
Laboratory Services
1st Floor, Microbiology, Biochemistry Laboratory.
2nd floor of the primary block accommodating the entire laboratory services of Pathology has been announced open on 30/09/1992.
Beds
The Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology Bangalore Karnataka with fifty beds at the time of beginning has achieved bed strength of 429. In addition to this, the Corporation of Bangalore City Sri Venkateshwara Dharmashala a specific plan of its kind in India offers accommodation to about twenty-five hundred ambulatory cancer patients along with about twenty-five hundred of their attendants.
