Kota Open University arrived into existence in 1987. It located in Kota, Rajasthan its jurisdiction dominate over the whole of Rajasthan. The University generally teaches over 10,000 students. The idea of instituting an open university in the State of Rajasthan has its beginning in the observations of the UGC Committee under the Chairmanship of Late Prof. G. Rama Reddy. It has six regional centers in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer and Bikaner. It also has 33 study centers all over Rajasthan. The University includes amongst its direct the goal of quest to educate those stripped under the conventional system of education.
