Nagarjuna University is quite significant in that the great Buddhist preceptor and Philosopher Acharya Nagarjuna introduce a University. University is affiliating and established in 1976, started with only 10 post-graduate courses in the University College. The university offered distance learning education for those students which are not able to attend regular classes and there residence is far from the college. Acharya Nagarjuna University has started the Centre for Distance Education (CDE) to offer UG and PG courses form the academic year 2003-04.

Candidates from any part of India will be admitted without any Entrance Examination provided them posses requisite qualifications mentioned for the course. There is no upper age restriction for admission into any course.
