The National Institute of Technology, Durgapur (formerly Regional Engineering College, Durgapur), was launched by an Act of Parliament in 1960.It is a fully-financed prime Technological Institution of the Government of India and is administrated by an independent Board of Governors. This institute is totally residential and furnishes adjustment for more than 2300 boys and 400 girls. The Institute is a University which honors B. Tech, M.C.A., M. Sc., M.B.A., M.Tech. and Ph.D. degrees to students after their successful culmination of the specified courses.
