The National Cooperative Housing Federation of India (NCHF) is the country wide system of the Indian Cooperative Housing Movement. NCHF was established in September, 1969 by the apex cooperative housing federations. The basic thrust of its establishment was to have an organization at the national stage to assume the responsibility of encouraging, formulating and coordinating the actions of housing cooperatives in the nation.

Legislation that governs Housing Cooperatives
The actions of housing cooperatives in several States are decided by respective Cooperative Societies Act and Cooperative Societies Rules distributed by the Registrar of Cooperative Societies appointed by the Government.
The national level cooperative systems and the multi-state cooperative societies are governed by the provisions of Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act and Rules.
Organizational Set-Up of NCHF
General Body
General Body consists of 26 members which is the quality authority on all subjects associating to activities and administration. Each member institution is constituted by one delegate elected/nominated to the General Body by member institution.
Executive Committee
Executive Committee comprises of seven members including one example of the Government of India and headed by the Chairman.
Board of Directors
Board of Directors consists of 19 elected conductors from member institutions, 2 Fundamental Government candidates, one representative of LIC and the Managing Director, NCHF.
