NERIST, The North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology was found by the Government of India, initially as a project of the North Eastern council, for furnishing a system of Education to make technical manpower at several levels for the growth of the North Eastern Region of the nation. NERIST came into being as a specific institute of its kind in the nation having unconventional and innovative academic programmes. The approach is to encourage a policy of vocationalisation at the 10+2 level and to allow only motivated students to go for the degree level while others go out of the Institute to enrich their profession with some years of industrial experience.

The student must have bachelor degree in any stream or having a B.Tech is applicable for the admission.
Admission
The admission is based on an entrance exam NEE is carried by the university.
