Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU) is devoted to the memory of Subhas Chandra Bose. An act passed on 20th August, 1997 made commissariat for the organization of NSOU. It is the prime State Open University of India. It carries on its functions from four offices placed in Kolkata. To reach the poor, the deprived, and the disadvantaged population this university has establish a wide network of study centers. There are about 145 study centers at present but the number of study centers will rise in the near future. At present there are about 95,000 students entered in NSOU.
