National Institute of Technology (NIT) Surathkal is one of the best engineering colleges in India. The college was before acknowledged as Karnataka Regional Engineering College. The college was launched in 1960 as a joint venture amongst Government of India and Government of Karnataka. In 2002, the college was granted the status of Deemed University and was called as National Institute of Technology Surathkal.
