Introduction
The NRLC (National Research Laboratory for Conservation of Cultural Property)
Has a unit of professionally directed conservation scientists and curators. The conservators are attracted from chemistry and fine arts disciplines, and conservation scientists comprise of generally chemists, some biologists and one each of physics and geology. The total capability of technical individuals in NRLC is 54.

The NRLCCP creditworthy for disseminating important information and adequate knowledge in conservation, supply training in curative conservation and develop and implement various programs in related fields. NRLCCP is powered by a group of conservation scientists who are adequately trained and outfitted with professional degrees. The conservation scientists are primarily students who have chemistry, biology, physics or geology as their specified disciplines.

Biodeterioration Division
Conservation Division

Stone Division

Library & Information Center
The National Research Laboratory for Conservation of Cultural Property library has about 12000 books on conservation and allied subjects, and subscribes to many journals published in the field of conservation. Lists of yearly acquisitions and abstracts of conservation literature are prepared yearly for users.

Research in Conversation
1. Development and standardization of methods of conservation.
2. Diagnostic investigations into the mechanism and extent of deterioration.
3. Study of materials of cultural property.
4. Evaluation of traditional methods.

Training
Since its inception, training has been one of the most significant activities of NRLC. Training programs on both curative and preventive aspects of conservation are conducted regularly.

Conversation Science
Over the years, NRLC has developed expertise in the conservation of wall paintings, various types of museum objects and archival material, etc., and has provided conservation services to several institutions of the country in a big way.

Activities
Main aim of NRLC is to develop conservation of cultural property. To achieve this end, NRLC carries our research in materials and methods of conservation and diagnostic investigations, imparts training in preventive and curative conservation.

    I heard a six month conservation course held in NRLC. What is the titeria of this course.I am B.Com. under Calcutta University, and working 16 years in Restoration Lab.underGovt.organization, special in antique frame.
