Obstetrics and gynecology, more commonly abbreviated OBGYN, are two surgical specializations relating to the health of female organs. OBGYN are medical doctors with broad specialized training and education lasting nearly ten years or more. All doctors must earn bachelor’s degrees, and majors relating to science better prepare students for the rigors of medical school. Obstetricians and gynecologists (OB/GYN) are physicians who specialize in women’s health. A 4-year college degree, 4-year Medical Doctorate degree and three to eight years of positions and residency training are demanded. OBGYN must hold a permit to practice in all states.
