Introduction
The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research is one of the top medical colleges in Chandigarh of India. The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research owes it introduction to the vision of late Sardar Par tap Singh Kairon, the then Prime Minister of the Punjab and the important medical educationists. The Institute became an independent body under the Act of Parliament in the year 1967 under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The 1st batch of students passed their last year MBBS examinations guided by the Panjab University in the January, 1996 and finished their 12 months mandatory rotating internship in the year 1997.In view of the begin of the Medical College in the metropolis, the Chandigarh Administration made the Department of Medical Education & Research.
