He or she is not imagined to have applied for early admission to any other college, and has, in effect, already devoted to attend the college should he or she be accepted
Early decision is the process by which a high school student applies for admission to a college in the first part of his or her senior year, normally by late October. If the latter happens, the student will be reconsidered with the regular applicants in the next group, and, if admitted, can choose to go there or not a higher percentage of students who apply under early admission are accepted than those who apply in the regular admission process. This early application is a direct signal to the college that that particular student is very interested in them as the number one choice. If the student is accepted under early admission, the student must agree to go to that college. The college typically responds with an answer by December.
If a student is very sure where he or she wants to attend college and has met the criteria to be admitted, early admission can be a real advantage. The answer can come in one of three forms: the student is admitted to the college, the student is denied admittance to the college, or the student may be deferred. . Only if the school does not offer enough financial aid for the student to attend can the student back out on the commitment.
