On 3rd November 2002, Air India was constituted as an independent custodian at our base station Mumbai. Air India Cargo provides freight transportation. As a custodian, Air India seems after total cargo activities that is from the stage of receipt of export shipments in the warehouse till placed on the aircraft with consider to export cargo and from the stage of import shipments being obtained from the flight till delivery to the consignee as regarding import activities. Facilities are available for acceptance and storage of all kinds of cargo including special cargo, live animals, dangerous goods, valuables, perishables, cargo requiring cold storage, heavy out-sized cargo. Air India Cargo commenced its freighter processes with a Douglas DC-3 Dakota aircraft, giving Air India the distinction of being the first Asian airline to run freighters. The airline operates cargo flights to various destinations. The airline also has ground truck-transportation arrangements on select destinations.
