Avinashilingam University for Women is situated at Coimbatore in the state of Tamil Nadu. It was announced a Deemed University by the Government of India under Section 3 of the UGC Act in June 1988. It is one of the biggest institutions in the nation giving Home Science education at all levels. It was the world-class women’s college to be conferred the status of independent by the University of Madras in June 1978. The status of liberty gave the College scope for academic freedom for innovations in teaching and research. It was antecedently famous as Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women.
