BHAVINI (Bharatiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam Limited) Kalpakkam is a completely owned Enterprise of Indian Govt. under the administrative operates of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE). BHAVINI located at Kalpakkam in temilnadu state in India.
It has been integrated on 22/10/2003 as a Public Limited Company under the Companies act, 1956 with the aim of constructing and commissioning the 1st 500 MWe Fast Breeder Reactor (FBR) at Kalpakkam.
Project And Financial Performance
The Nuclear Energy Programme in the country has been visualized to develop in 3 phases. Currently 17 Nuclear reactors of PHWR type are under procedure with installed capacity of 4000 MWe. 5 reactors are under construction with installed capacity of 2660 MWe.
India has benefited valuable experience through indigenously constructing and controlling a 40 MWt /13 MWe Fast Breeder Test Reactor (FBTR) at Kalpakkam since 1985. For FBTR, whole the important components, take out grid plate, were manufactured indigenously. Operate rod drive mechanisms, fuelling machines and sodium pumps are controlling satisfactorily since 1985. No leaks have been observed in steam generators. Whole the systems have performed well.
