The Centre for Environment Education (CEE), Ahmedabad was establish in 1984 to develop and carry out nation-wide environmental education programmes and activities. CEE sees a leading opportunity in the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development to further contribute towards sustainable development. CEE has 2 types of appointments regular and Project. Regular appointments of scientific and administrative staff are done by national advertisements and tests. CEE also has a databank of candidates who have evinced interest in applying for a post in CEE. CEE was made in recognition of the importance of environmental education in India’s overall environment and development strategy. CEE started more pilot, field-level and demonstration projects towards sustainable growth which could be scaled-up and replicated. The Gujarat State Archaeological has commissioned CEE to develop abd install signage for over 200 monuments in Gujarat.
