The Christian Medical College Ludhiana was the 1st medical school for women in Asia. It was established by Dame Edith Mary Brown. It became officially accredited through the government in the year of 1915. The College maintains 775 Hospital beds. The Christian Medical College is located in a big campus not far from Ludhiana Railway Station in Punjab state in India.
The Medical Missionary work was began in Ludhiana in 1881 through the Greenfield sisters, Miss Kay Greenfield and Miss Martha Rose. In the year of 1953 the college began the MBBS program associated with Punjab University, Chandigarh admitting men and women scholars. Since July 1999 the college has been associated with Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot.
