Coimbatore Corporation Expansion
Coimbatore Corporation Expansion
The Coimbatore Corporation has considered upon its councilors to make proposals on elaborating the city area from the existing 105 sq.km. to nearly 450 sq.km. After the former expansion in 1981, the Coimbatore Corporation appears to be thinking of extending its limits further to bring the peripheral fields under its control. The aim is to render these fields with better services in view of the planned growth, to be encouraged by an information technology park. The present growth of housing colonies in the suburbs has also set the Corporation mulling an expansion.
Aside from the Mayor, Corporation Commissioner Anshul Mishra, Deputy Mayor N. Karthik, Congress Floor Leader R.S. Thirumugam, Leader of the Opposition V.N. Udayakumar, leaders of parties in the Corporation Council and officials participated in the meeting. There is also a call for more capital stress on the east, north and southern parts of the city, even after expansion, as these are industrial zones and have already seeing a heavy development.
