In order to assist all schools and educational services in meeting the demands of pupils requiring learning endorse and the teaching of pupils with special educational requires, a combined post-graduate diploma programme of training has been provided to teachers since September 2006. This programme is endorsed through the Department of Education and Science below the National Development Plan and offers a accredited post-graduate qualification for all teachers working in the fields of special educational needs and learning endorse.

Entry Requirements: Appliers must be graduates and eligible teachers currently employed or about to be employed as learning endorse teachers, resource teachers for travelers or teachers functioning with special educational requires in mainstream primary or post-primary schools, special classes, special units/schools and other relevant settings.

Admission Procedure: Application for the 2010/2011 course is via Circular 0001/2010 which can be transferred from the D.E.S website (www.education.ie).

Finished application forms must be referred to Postgraduate Diploma in Special Educational Needs, School of Education, NUI, Galway by the closing date of March 1/03/2010.
